FJC Religious School

Our 17th year of Religious School began in September. Our school strives to provide a Jewish religious education to children from all Jewish backgrounds. In addition to these classes, we have Bar and Bat Mitzvah prep classes available for our students who are approaching this important landmark.

The Religious School is immersive and engaging. The Judaic lessons are educational, fun and interactive for the children and vary between topic- and project-based. Topics include holidays, history, Israel and Torah. There are multiple special programs and guests throughout the year. The Hebrew program is based on ability and allows each child to start at his/her appropriate level and progress at his/her own pace. The kids really look forward to coming and enjoy participating in the activities and programs.

We had a very successful school year last year, with 19 children registered. This coming school year, classes again will be held at Highland School in Warrenton, offering students and teachers an environment conducive to learning. We are looking forward to a great year. Religious School starts Sunday, September 16, 2018.

This year the Executive Board would again like to make a special appeal on behalf of our religious school. Rarely, even in the largest of congregations, is a religious school supported by tuition alone; our school is no exception. Because many young FJC families have more than one child enrolled in the school, tuition can create a financial burden.

If you are in a financial position to do so, we would like to invite you to become a school benefactor, either through a one-time gift to our education fund, or through smaller, monthly gifts. 100% of funds received are used to meet school expenses, as we operate the school with an all-volunteer staff. All gifts are tax deductible.

Thank you in advance for any financial help in educating our community’s children, who are indeed “a heritage from Adonai.”
